Dining Out for Life 2012

Mark your calendar for early for one of the most fun and most important fundraisers of the year.

Dining Out for Life 2012
Thursday April 26, 2012

The concept behind Dining Out for Life, which is celebrating its 19th year in Seattle (!), is simple: just eat out at any of a whole ton of participating restaurants, and a portion of the cost of your entire meal goes directly to the Life Long AIDS Alliance. Its that easy. Get together a group, bring all your friends. The more you spend, the more money is raised for this fantastic organization.

At Le Pichet and Cafe Presse, we are very pleased once again be a part of this very worthwhile event. Both restaurants will be donating 30% of the entire days revenue, so make plans now to come by at lunch or dinner or just for coffee, snacks or drinks. It all helps the cause.

As Seattle has always supported Dining Out for Life enthusiastically, reservations for that evening can be hard to come by. For reservations, call:

Raclette back for Seasonal run at Café Presse

What: Raclette Savoyarde
When: Beginning January 3, 2012, all from 9am until closing
Where: Café Presse

Ever since July when Raclette Savoyarde from Le Pichet and Café Presse was featured on the Food Network show "The Best Thing I Ever Ate", it has been the most requested dish on our menu. This is really saying something, as each year we hear from many, many people who are eagerly awaiting the return of Steak Tartare and Gratin Lyonnais and would like to know the exact date when these dishes will be back on the menu (Steak Tartare is on the menu during summer months and Gratin Lyonnais during the winter).

The good news is that the season for Raclette Savoyarde is here again. Café Presse will begin serving Raclette as a dinner special on January 3, 2012 and it will become part of the regular menu on Tuesday January 24, 2012. Raclette will be offered throughout the winter and into early spring.

As discussed in a post on our blog, we stick to our policy of offering Raclette only seasonally for two reasons: First, the best quality raclette cheese is made only during the summer months in the high mountain pastures of the Alps. After 5-6 months of aging, cheese is ready to eat and arrives in Seattle, at which time we put it on the menu. Second, raclette, like fondue, is a rich, warming dish best enjoyed in the cold months of winter.

Anyway, enough talk... come by and try it yourself.
